WordPress download plugin is a utility plugin that does one thing, and does it perfectly. It may sound simple, but this feature plugs a hole in current set of WordPress plugin functionality. As a site admin you must be aware that you can search and install WordPress plugins directly from the dashboard, or you can upload the plugin as zip files, assuming you received it from another site (for example, a commercial plugin). Once installed, all plugins list themselves inside Dashboard -> Plugins page. After deactivating and deleting them, they simply disappear. All files are removed from the server instantly. WordPress does not allow you to backup or download the plugins before you jettison them from your site. If you also manage your server and are fairly comfortable doing so, you may find a more contrived way to download installed plugins via directory manager app or FTP. Obviously, this requires more than a single click and not for everyone.

What exactly are plugins and how this plugin helps you save time or bail you out from difficult situations? Plugins are files and/ or directories, which are created inside your WordPress installation (defined by WordPress) when you first install them. Both active and deactivated files reside inside them. When you upload zip package of a plugin, WordPress extracts it and places the directory inside it in the plugins folder. Our plugin allows you to reverse the process. It will convert any plugin installed on your site into a zip package ready to be reinstalled later or moved to another site. Simple Download Monitor Plugin Usage

Once you have installed the plugin, go to “Downloads -> Settings” interface to configure some options

A) Configure Download Monitor basic settings

• Admin Options: Remove Tinymce Button – Removes the SDM Downloads button from the WP content editor (default: unchecked).
• Color Options: Download Button Color – Select a default color of the download button (default: green).

B) Add a new download

To configure a new download follow these steps:

1. Go to “Downloads->Add New” interface in your WP admin
2. Enter a title for your download
3. Add a description for the download
4. Select the file from your computer and upload it (or use an URL of the file)
5. Select an image for the download (it will be displayed as a thumbnail on the front end)
6. Publish it

You can view all of your existing downloads from the “Downloads->Downloads” interface.

C) Create a download button

Create a new post/page and click the “SDM Downlaods” TinyMCE button to insert a shortcode (This button will only show up if you haven’t unchecked it in the settings). You can choose to display your download with a nice looking box or just a plain download link/button.

You can check the download stats from the “Downloads->Logs” interface. It shows the number of downloads for each files, IP address of the user who downloaded it, date and time of the download.

Usually when a digital file is recognised by the browser it does not prompt for download. The file just opens in the browser instead. You can choose to modify this behaviour using the force_dl parameter in the shortcode.

Data Privacy

When you use the built-in app to authenticate and link your Google Drive account, the Application collects the following information:

1. Your WordPress website URL.
2. A short-lived authorization code generated during the OAuth flow.

This data is collected only after you grant access via the Google OAuth consent screen. Upon consent, you’ll be redirected through the SoftLab BD server (https://softlabbd.com/integrate-google-drive-oauth.php), which then redirects you back to your site to complete the authorization. This intermediate redirect enables a simplified plugin setup without requiring you to create your own Google App or configure your own Authorized Redirect URI.

Add a template to NextGEN Gallery that provides multiple-file downloads for trade/media galleries. NextGEN Gallery is one of the best gallery plugins for WordPress because it is very flexible and has a nice, simple admin. This plugin adds a new gallery template that lets you select multiple images from the gallery to be downloaded as a ZIP archive.

NB: the Photocrati version of NextGEN Gallery can impact the performance of your server, and not all of the old plugin’s functionality works. You might want to consider using NextCellent Gallery instead — it’s a fork of the original NextGEN Gallery with continued support and compatibility, without the performance impacts.
